The main directions of investigations are the establishing of the conditions of the Earth crust formation, study of the structure and tectonic history of the oceans, continental platforms, fold belts and zones of their junction; geodynamic reconstructions; study of the problematic questions of the origin of oil hydrocarbons and tectonic regularities of occurrence of oil and gas deposits.
