The questions of the accuracy estimation of the areas determination on the topographic plans of different scales and using the results of direct measuring on the locality was considered. It is shown, that the requirements of the contemporary normative documents to coordinates determination accuracy of the boundary signs can not satisfy requirements to accuracy of the areas determination. In the paper are given the corresponding recommendations.
