The article is dedicated to the history of garden and park design in the city of Lviv from the 1770s through the 1910s. The projects of Hetman Ramparts, Ex-Jesuit Garden, Stryiskyi Park and other noted developments are under discussion. Special accent is put on the creative work of Arnold Röhring.

The article deals with the biographical information and projects of the outstanding Lviv town gardener Arnold Röhring – inspector of urban plantations, who developed projects of all green spaces in parks, on the main boulevards and squares, watched over their state and supplemented them with small architectural forms. Besides, he published the textbook for teachers «Sadownictwo» (1881). The existence of Röhring School in Lviv have been assumed.
The necessity of the park-monument reconstruction and its adaptation according to the new town-planning and social terms were regarded. The main aspects of this task are both to renew and to reconstruct connections between natural park landscape and its architectural and planning components.
