The possibility of increasing the efficiency of municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) operation by changing the flow diagram of biological wastewater treatment in aeration tanks at minimum expenses for their reconstruction is shown in the paper on the example of one of the regional centres of Ukraine. The technology of nitri-denitrification of wastewater according to the flow diagram of the two-stage modified Ludzak-Ettinger process is offered for the considered conditions.

According to experts, today in Ukraine a quarter of sewage treatment plants and networks worked in value term depreciation. As a result, a large number of cleaning stations decommissioned and wastewater that must be disposed of at these sites, get into the environment completely untreated, causing serious concern because they pose a potential threat to health and life.

In this paper the efficiency of ANAMMOX-process use for sewage treatment from nitrogen-containing compounds was investigated. The conditions for promoting the efficient passage of the studied process and the methods of investigation of the anaerobic ammonium oxidation – ANAMMOX were presented. Досліджена ефективність застосування ANAMMOX-процесу для очищення стоків від азотовмісних сполук. Наведені умови, що сприяють ефективному проходженню досліджуваного процессу, та методи, за допомогою яких проводилось вивчення анаеробного  окиснення амонію – ANAMMOX .
