The role of advocacy in the mechanism of protection of human rights and freedom

The article analyzes the role of the Ukrainian Bar Institute in the mechanism ofprotection of human and citizen’s rights and freedoms. The article analyzes the development of Ukrainian civil society in accordance with the requirements of European institutional progress. It is found out that under the rule of law state power becomes the most important tool by which civil society provides optimal conditions for self-development. It is in this context that the state acts as a public-power institution that manages civil society as a whole and is called upon to act in the general interest.

The idea of people’s sovereignty in ukrainian politico-legal thought at the end of the 19th century – in the first quarter of the 20th century

The analysis of the history of formation and development of the idea of people’s sovereignty in Ukrainian legal thought was performed. It was mentioned that the doctrine of sovereignty of the people in Ukraine which had been formulated at the end of the 19th century – in the first quarter of the 20th century, despite of coming from European legal tradition includedsome particular features which were typical for the peoples deprived of national independence and sovereignty.

Vyacheslav Lipinsky, as the ideologist of the ukrainian conservatism

The article is devoted to the question concerning the analysis of contemporary political and legal views, ideological and theoretical scientific heritage by V.Lypynsky and his proposal to draft a sovereign and democratic Ukraine.
