TRENDS IN THE DESIGN AND BUILDING OF LVIV IN THE XIX-EARLY XX CENTURY

The central part of Lviv was formed over several centuries and in several stages. Favourable demographic, economic and political prerequisites in the XIX-XX centuries positively influenced the quantitative and qualitative state of urban homes. Demolition of defensive walls, the formation of a new citywide centre, measures to improve the central part of the city, regulate the street network, and increase the population are the main factors that underlie the planning and development of the city. The city was actively built up. Most of the houses were profitable.

THE PHENOMENON OF THE "GREEK RENAISSANCE" IN THE ARCHITECTURE OF IMPERIAL ROME

The article analyzes the phenomenon of borrowing forms of Greek architecture in the architecture of Ancient Rome of Emperor Hadrian's era (II century AD). This phenomenon is interpreted as the first representation of historicism in architecture – the use of elements of the former culture in actual project creativity to convey certain ideas and meanings. The article shows that the "Greek Renaissance" in the architecture of imperial Rome was an organic component of the general process of hellenophilism, characteristic of the general cultural development of that time.

ARTISTIC DESIGN OF A REPRESENTATIVE GROUP OF PREMISES IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS OF LVIV IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY

The article considers the characteristic features and distinctness of the
artistic design of representative rooms of public buildings in Lviv in second half of 19th
century. Traced the main factors that influenced their formation, both architecturally and
artistically. Highlighted in detail the Viennese historicism and its features in interior
decoration, which is had influenced and reflected to the Lviv’s public buildings. For a more
detailed analysis of the artistic structure, a representative sample was made of key public

IDEOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE ARCHITECTURE OF NATIONAL DETERMINED HISTORICISM ON THE EXAMPLE OF UKRAINIAN, POLISH AND RUSSIAN NARRATIVES

This article explores the ideological and narrative foundations of various forms of architectural historicism, marked by the identities manifestation which emerged in the era of modern nations appearance. The difference between the concepts of the three national communities - Ukrainian, Polish and Russian and how these concepts were conveyed with the help of architectural stylistics is outlined.

DEVELOPMENT OF ARCHITECTURAL AND URBANISTIC COMPLEX OF LVIV REGIONAL PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL

The development of medical institutions in the second half of the 19th century - in the early 20th century relied on progressive ideas in health care, incl. the new assessment of the usage of the landscape environment for therapeutic purposes. The implementation of these ideas was linked to the extensive development of cities and relied on the urban ideas of "villas in the park" and "garden city". The newly established medical complexes of the psychiatric profile of regional status were distinguished by their scale, and their creators were outstanding architects of the time.

Stylization Method in Historicism Architecture

Метод стилізації завжди ґрунтується на принципі використання прототипу, проте важливо усвідомлювати, “що цей прототип означає” у сенсі ціннісному, аксіологічному. Наприклад, у добу Ренесансу антична спадщина визнавалася зразком досконалості, проте можливим для досягнення і, навіть, перевершення. Це стимулювало специфічне використання римських прототипів в актуальній практиці, де їх змінювали та перетворювали, “імітуючи” взірець, проте демонструючи його по-новому, по-своєму, репрезентуючи практику імітаційної стилізації.
