Bamboo-Containing Composites with Environmentally Friendly Binders

The environmentally friendly binder - poly[(trimethoxy)4-vinylphenethyl)] silane was synthesized for the first time via Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction, which was conducted by the reaction of polystyrene with vinyltrimethoxysilane in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3.The synthesized polymer was identified using 1H, 13C, 1H COSY NMR, and FTIR spectroscopy.

Effects of Hydrophilic Silica Nanoparticles on Morphology and Mechanical Properties of a Typical Tyre Compound

This research aimed to study the effects of adding hydrophilic silica nanoparticles as nanofiller on tread properties of a typical tyre compound. In this respect, four compounds were prepared as a representative of the tread of the tyre. The amount of 0, 1, 3, and 5 phr (parts of filler per hundred parts of rubber) of nanofiller were added by melt mixing method. Physical and mechanical properties of compounds were measured. The structure and morphology of the fractured surface of the compounds were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (Fe-SEM).

Mechanical and Chemical Studies of Al2O3-Ti Composites for Their Use as a Bone Substitute

Alumina-based composites reinforced with titanium were manufactured by powder techniques. Characterizations indicate that titanium content affects densification which in turn causes positive effects on hardness and toughness. Microstructure presents grains of irregular shape and small sizes. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy indicates that additions of titanium on Al2O3 enhance its corrosion resistance.

Development of Strengthened Bioactive Calcium Phosphate-Silicate Glass Ceramics for Bone Implants

Cumulative experience in the field of development of bioactive glass ceramics for bone implants and methods of strengthening thereof have been analyzed. Compositions were selected and model glasses were synthesized, the relationship between viscosity and crystallization ability of glass ceramics has been studied. Composite materials based on the glass ceramics and zirconia have been synthesized, their mechanical properties studied, and feasibility of their use in the creation of bone implants has been established.

Експлуатаційні властивості плівок на основі полівінілового спирту та модифікованого монтморилоніту

Розроблено новий спосіб одержання високоякісних плівок на основі полівінілового
спирту та модифікованого монтморилоніту. Досліджено механічну міцність, водо-
поглинання та бензотривкість плівок на основі різних марок полівінілового спирту
залежно від вмісту модифікатора та режимів одержання. Встановлено, що введення
монтморилоніт-полівінілпіролідонової суміші до полівінілового спирту суттєво впливає
на експлуатаційні властивості плівок на його основі, зокрема дещо знижується
