Hydrated Properties of Composite Systems for Water and Soil Remediation on the Basis of Nanosilicas and Yeast Cells

The method of low-temperature 1Н NMR spectroscopy is applied to study the hydrated properties of bio-nanocomposite created on the basis of the mixture of hydrophobic and hydrophilic silicas (АМ1-300 and А 300 with ratio of 1:1), water, n-decane, and yeast cells. The produced mixture of nanosilicas contributes to mitosis and cell growth.

Argentinian Sugar Cane Vinasse: Characterization of Phenolic Compounds and Evaluation of Adsorption as a Possible Remediation Technique

Chemical composition of sugar cane vinasse (Tucumán, Argentina) was studied finding high concentration of organic compounds. Phenolic compounds were partially characterized, finding mostly flavonoids, anthocyanins, as well as resorcinol and ferulic acid derivatives. Adsorption isotherms of phenolic compounds and total organic compounds were measured on four commercial activated carbons with different physical and chemical properties at two temperatures. The isotherm shape depends on the type of carbon and the adsorption capacity is enhanced as temperature increases.

ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY MANAGEMENT OF SUBSTANDARD PESTICIDE RESIDUES AND REMEDIATION AND RECLAMATION OF CONTAMINATED SOIL

In Ukraine, there is still a great number of unused, unidentified and substandard pesticide preparations (PPs) and other toxic substances which have an extremely dangerous impact on humans and other living ecosystems and the environment. Besides, more than 75 thousand tons of pesticides are imported and produced annually in Ukraine, but some of them are not used during the period of their suitability.

Ways to Minimize Environmental Hazards From Pollution of the Environment in the Zone of Influence of the Hrybovychi Landfill

The article analyzes the environmental risks of existing landfills in Ukraine (on the example of Hrybovytske landfill). The possible treatment technologies of the accumulated infiltrates were analysed and the successful application of infiltrates biological treatment technology in aerobic lagoons was confirmed.

Use of zeolite in agriculture and environmental protection. A short review

In recent years there has been an increasing interest in the possibility of the use of natural aluminosilicates in agriculture and environmental protection. Zeolites are a large group of (cluster silicates) aluminosilicate minerals with different chemical composition. Due to their unique physical and chemical properties (high sorption capacity and ion-exchange, ion-exchange selectivity and structural thermal stability), they can be used for example in the production of mineral fertilizers. Zeolites can also be used as a medium of the active substances i.e.

Water resources of Ukraine: usage, qualitive and quantitative assesment (with detaile description of Odessa region)

The level of pollutant in river and reservoirs water in Ukraine is rather high. The assessment of the modern state of water resources in the different regions had been done. In generally it was determined that water infrastructure in Ukraine needs reconstruction. New State Program of Water Management Conception and new Law about water management up to 2020 had been approved. Nine basins committees were organized. Committees are composed of representatives of science, practical specialists and the public.

Chemical Oxidants for Remediation of Contaminated Soil and Water. A Review

This review covers the main agents used for in situ and ex situ chemical oxidation of organic contaminants particularly oil products, in soil and water environments. Among them there are hydrogen peroxide, permanganate salts, ozone and sodium persulfate. The fields of application, as well as benefits and disadvantages of the mentioned agents use were described.
