Modern high-tech trends, interactivity and mobility, which deeply penetrate into all social processes and the problem of education modernization every year, increasingly affect the forms of its spatial organization, determine the content and fullness of the architectural environment. Modern educational institutions are designed to ensure the full realization of the needs for creative expression, social activity, communication, cultural improvement, and therefore to create the necessary conditions for effective educational activities.

The article sheds light on the impact of innovation on the transformation of the educational and leisure environment of the modern university and the emergence  of the newest structures - innovative creative spaces, represented in their wide typology - creative hubs, coworkings, fab-laboratories, business incubators, accelerators. The article argues that innovative creative spaces provide unique opportunities to accelerate the generation and dissemination of innovation, especially through efficient communication channels and a positive innovation ecosystem. The analysis of the needs of modern youth has made it possible to determine the prerequisites for the formation of innovative creative spaces in the structure of higher education institutions.

The study also investigates the typology, architectural and functional aspects of innovative creative hubs and spaces in the structure of higher education institutions. The research material includes the analysis of existing innovative hubs in the structure of universities in the world, as well as presented architectural proposals for a future university hub, designed by students under the guidance of the author. Recommendations on the composition of functional elements and functional-planning structure, artistic and volume-compositional solution of these buildings have been formed
