Place and role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Middle East (Research Article)

The article outlines the main approaches to determining the boundaries of the Middle East region. It analyses the significance and role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this region. Since the revolution in 1979, Iran has become a key player not only in Persian Gulf politics but also in the Middle East at large. The article dwells upon the factors such as historical, cultural, religious, geopolitical, revolutionary and others that reinforce and influence the position of Tehran in the Middle East.

Institutional development, problematic issues and prospects of the modern diplomatic and consular services of Spain in the 21st century are analyzed in this paper. The internal democratization of Spanish diplomacy is seen as a part of process of modernization and rapprochement to Europe. The entry of Spain into the EU has refocused organizational and conceptual structures of Spanish foreign policy.

The paper deals with the main aspects of the political biography and reviews the first female president in Korea’s history in the 21st century Ms. Park Geun-Hye, whoalso is the first woman head of the state in the modern history of Northeast Asia. Her election to the highest post in the state was an especially impressive achievement considering that South Korea has the highest level of gender inequality among developed countries in the world. In this country and in the whole Northeastern Asian region politics has been a male-dominated occupation and women have been underrepresented.
