Study on the Application of Starch Derivatives as the Regulators of Potassium Drilling Fluids Filtration

Derivatives of starch, such as graft copolymer of acrylamide onto starch, carbamoylethylated starch, carbamoylethyl-dihydroxypropylated starch, and dihydroxypropylated starch have been tested for their properties as components of drilling fluids used for clay inhibition and for the regulation of their rheology. The influence of modified starch and their blends with tylose as protective agents in the filtration of drilling fluids, as well as replacement of tylose, by modified starch were investigated.

A Synthetic Approach of D-Glucose Derivatives: Spectral Characterization and Antimicrobial Studies

A new series of methyl 4,6-O-(4-methoxybenzylidene)--D-glucopyranoside derivatives was synthesized using the direct acylation method. Methyl--D-glucopyranoside was selectively converted to methyl 4,6-O-(4-methoxybenzylidene)--D-glucopyranoside by the reaction with 4-methoxybenzaldehyde dimethylacetal in a reasonable yield. Using a wide variety of acylating agents, a series of 2,3-di-O-acyl derivatives of this product was also prepared in order to gather additional information for structure elucidation.

Inhibitory Efficiency of Antioxidant and Phospholipid Mixtures under the Different Oxidation Extent of Methyl Oleate

Results of investigations of the phospholipids (PL) and hydroperoxide influence on the antioxidant action efficiency of the synthetic phenolic antioxidants (InH) –2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol (BHT), 4-methoxyphenol (MOP), 4-tert-butylphenol; natural InH – α-tocopherol (TP), quercetin (Q) and dihydroquercetin (QH2) and hydrated quinoline – 2,2,4-trimethyl-6-ethoxy-1,2-dihydroquinoline (ethoxyquin, EQ), performed by the model of the initiated oxidation of methyl oleate are generalized.

Synthesis and Initiating Activity of Со(II)-Mn(II) Bimetallic Macroinitiators of β-Diketonate Type

Bimetallic macroinitiators have been obtained via styrene triple copolymerization with cobalt(II) and manganese(II) vinyl--diketonates. The copolymerization kinetic parameters have been studied. Metal chelates were found to be as comonomers, initiators and inhibitors at the same time during copolymerization process. The macroinitiators synthesis optimal conditions have been examined. They may be used for the production of grafted polymers.
