Removal of Petroleum from Aqueous Systems by Poly(divinylbenzene) and Poly(methyl methacrylate-divinylbenzene) Resins: Isothermal and Kinetic Studies

In this study, the performance of two polymer resins was evaluated, one composed of methyl methacrylate-divinylbenzene (MMA-DVB) and the other of only divinylbenzene (DVB), for adsorption of oil in synthetic oily wastewater. The tests were carried out using two processes: (i) continuous flow, to assess the quantity of oily water that can be eluted until reaching the saturation point of resins; and (ii) batch, to obtain information about the best-fitting kinetic and isotherm models for the two resins.

Kinetic model of photoinitiated copolymerization of monofunctional monomers till high conversions

Regularities of kinetics of photoinitiated copolymerization till high conversions in the systems of monofunctional methacrylate comonomers (hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA)) have been investigated by laser interferometry in a wide range of experimental factors (molar ratio of comonomers, photoinitiator concentration, intensity of UV-irradiation). Kinetic model of photoinitiated copolymerization of methacrylates till high conversions has been proposed on the basis of microheterogeneity conception of the polymerization process.

The Kinetics of the Gas Phase Aldol Condensation Reaction of Propionic Acid with Formaldehyde on B2O3-P2O5-WO3/SiO2 Catalyst

The basic kinetic regularities of aldol condensation reaction of propionic acid with formaldehyde on the B2O3-P2O5-WO3/SiO2 catalyst in gas phase have been investigated. The kinetic equations of the process have been proposed and the kinetic parameters have been calculated. The created kinetic model fairly well describes the condensation reaction of propionic acid with formaldehyde on the developed catalyst.
