Assessment of the service quality in public transport (analysis of research in Lviv, Ukraine)

The paper assesses the quality of public transport services and the influence of individual components on the value of the overall satisfaction level with transport services. Public transport has many benefits in terms of energy savings, environmental impact, social equity and urban economy. The analysis of existing research confirms that the quality of service provided by the public transport system affects the intentions of potential passengers to use it more.

Study of time indicators of public transport operation depending on the season of the year

Mobility problems in large cities of Ukraine and Eastern Europe are complicated by the fact that the increase of private transport  volume significantly exceeds street and road network`s capacity. This is most noticeable during peak periods in terms of daylight hours and throughout the year. From the point of sustainable mobility view, this negative phenomenon significantly affects urban public transport, which does not have separate dedicated traffic lines. This article analyzes the issue regarding the deterioration of the transport situation in large cities.

The need for eco-driving technologies in urban public transport

This article discusses the challenges facing public transport in Ukraine in terms of reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The absence or insufficient development of means and methods for monitoring driver behaviour, as well as high staff turnover, create significant difficulties in controlling drivers and vehicles. A conducted study in Lutsk, the administrative center of the Volyn region, analyzed the driving behavior of passenger buses in the city. Results showed that typical driving modes include idling (40%), acceleration (18%), driving at a constant speed (29%), and braking (13%).

Intelligent system of passenger flows dynamiC 2D-visualization for public transport routes

In order to increase the attractiveness of public transport for urban residents, a software product has been created for transport companies that, by visualizing passenger traffic, helps to improve the quality of public transport services provided within the city. The paper analyses existing and current scientific developments and literature sources, which show the advantages and disadvantages of a large number of different algorithms and methods, approaches, and methods for solving problems of 2D- visualization of passenger flows on public routes.

Minimization of public transport delays at arterial streets with coordinated motion

Research results, using which the method of minimization of public transport delay is improved at intersections with the system of coordinated motion control, are given in this paper. Such transport research was carried out with simultaneous application of field measurements of the study of traffic flow indicators and computer simulation in PTV VISSIM to check the level of efficiency of coordinated control and the reliability of the results.

Formation of the concept of development of public transport in a big city

Problem setting. In general, the current level of integration and globalization processes requires a significant optimization of the existing transport system and its maximum adaptation to the requirements of European standards for the provision of transport services for the movement of passengers within urban agglomerations. The elimination of vertical state planning, financing and control in the field of public transport has caused a kind of chaos in the transport sector, because a new model of management and development has not been formed.

Assessment of the noise level on arterial streets depending on traffic flow indicators

The intensity of traffic flows increases every year and intensifies its impact significantly on urban territory's ecologic situation and natural environment. In Ukrainian cities, the growth of noise pollution is quite a topical problem as it has a significant impact on the environment because of the increase in car numbers. Traffic flow intensity and densification of the built-up area cause the increase of the noise level.

ANALYSIS OF THE UKRAINIAN CITIES’ SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY ON THE EXAMPLE OF LVIV

The world tendencies of popularization of ecological elements of sustainable mobility and the results of their introduction in Lviv on the way to sustainable development are considered in the article. Examples of implementation of the Sustainable Mobility Plan in the city in accordance with the set priorities are given: residents, public transport, ecological means of transportation, private transport. The development of infrastructure for individual environmental means of mobility and public transport is analyzed.

The road network traffic capacity taking into account public transport stops layout method

The vigorous motorization process is taking place in a growing number of countries year by year, and the number of people involved in road traffic is constantly increasing. The growth of the vehicle fleet and the volume of transportation lead to an increase in traffic that in the context of cities with a historical build-up leads to a traffic problem. It is particularly acute at the junctions of the road network. There is an increase in transport delays, queues, and congestion, causing reduce in speed, excessive fuel consumption, and increased wear-out of vehicle components and assemblies.

Solution of traffic problems in the central area of Lviv

Deficiencies in the traffic infrastructure in central Lviv lead to congestion and obstruction of pedestrian movement as well as pollution, but the main reasons of these problems are not physical. They lie in the absence of efficient administrative and legislative measures for the management of stationary traffic.
