mercury selenide

Сhemical synthesis of solid solutions of mercury sulfide-selenide films in the presence of sodium tartrate

Solid solutions films of mercury sulfide-selenide (HgS1–xSex) were synthesized on glass substrates by the chemical bath deposition method. Theoretical calculations of the boundary conditions for the HgS and HgSe formation in the mercury-tartrate-thiourea-selenosulfate system were made. The boundary conditions of HgS1–xSex were defined by the overlap area between the constructed HgS and HgSe formation zones. The X-ray diffraction and elemental analysis showed that the obtained films are single-phase and consist of HgS1–xSex substitutional solid solutions in zincblende modification.

Optimization of Synthesis Conditions of Mercury Selenide Thin Films

The mercury selenide (HgSe) films were obtained on glass substrates via the chemical deposition method. The aqueous solutions of mercury(II) nitrate, sodium thiosulfate, sodium selenosulfate and tri-sodium citrate were used. X-ray and elemental analysis of the film sample were made. The effect of initial reagents concentration, synthesis duration and temperature on the mass of HgSe films was investigated and coatings thickness was calculated. The optical and morphological properties of HgSe films were examined. The deposition mechanism is discussed.

QUANTUM-CHEMICAL MODELING OF THE CHEMISTRY PROCESS OF THE MERCURY SULFIDE AND MERCURY SELENIDE FILMS SYNTHESIS

The HgS and HgSe films were obtained by chemical deposition technique from an aqueous solution of mercury(II) salt, complexing and chalcogenizing agents. For the obtaining of Hg(II) complexes during the HgS films synthesis thiourea was used, and during the HgSe films synthesis – potassium iodide, potassium rhodanide and sodium thiosulfate. By the X-ray phase analysis was confirmed the formation of desired compounds, as well as the formation of Hg3I2Se2 ternary compound in the case of potassium iodide use during the synthesis of HgSe films.

Synthesis and properties of mercury selenide films deposited by using pottasium iodide as complexing agent

Mercury selenide (HgSe) films were obtained on glass substrates via the chemical deposition method. The aqueous solutions of mercurium(II) nitrate, potassium iodide and sodium selenosulfate were used. Film samples obtained at two temperatures of synthesis were analyzed by X-ray and structural analysis. The effect of the deposition duration on the optical and morphological properties of HgSe films was investigated. The deposition mechanism was discussed.
