Functions, management directions and kinds of organizational and investment enterprises for rural areas development in Poland in the post-war period were presented in the work.. Up to the year 1989 agricultural production development was the main function of development and carried on investments. The sociopolitical changes in the year 1990 and vision of integration with European Union extorted widening the function and in this way creation of new investment process. The scope and sketch of this process - procedure for shaping and development of rural areas in Poland were presented in the work. The condition of realization of this process is possessing the modern sources of spatial information in the shape of digital ortho-photo-maps supplemented by various topical informative layers (Geographical Information System - GIS).
