THE OLD AND NEW CASTLES IN THE TOWN OF ROHATYN: DEVELOPMENT OF PLANNING STRUCTURE AND ARCHITECTURE

According to historical documents, the city of Rohatyn was one of the most developed and well-fortified cities in Ukraine during the 16th and 17th centuries. From the city's founding, two structural parts were planned: the town center (sredmiste) and the castle. The development of the town center and its urban structure has been analyzed in several of our previous scholarly works. Despite significant destruction during the First and Second World Wars, the town center has retained its historical layout and part of its architecture.

Aiming at promoting careful and heritage-respecting rehabilitation interventions, in line with the recommendations of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites), the Rehabilitation Nucleus of the Construction Institute (NR-IC), integrated in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), has participated in several conservation and requalification projects.

DEFENSIVE CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE VIRGIN IN THE VILLAGE OF BISHCHE, BEREZHANY DISTRICT, TERNOPIL REGION

In this article we present the results of research on the defensive church in the
village of Bishche. Construction of the church began in 1624. The church had an
autonomous defense system. The territory of the temple is surrounded by defensive
moats and ramparts. Powerful walls with arches were built on the ramparts. The
shooting ranges were also in the upper tier of the nave above the vaults. The temple
