Problems of Law Enforcement in the Field of Combating Trafficking in Human Beings

Despite a significant number of international legal obligations and reforms of national legislation, the problem of trafficking in human beings remains one of the most acute in the field of human rights protection. Ukraine, as a party to numerous international agreements, in particular the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, has committed itself to creating an effective mechanism to combat this phenomenon. However, in practice, the implementation of these mechanisms faces a number of law enforcement problems.

The problem of latency and trends in human trafficking

This article is based on a study of official statistics and official materials of criminal proceedings considered by Ukrainian courts from 2013 to 2020. Analyzed quantitative indicators of human trafficking, including children, were analyzed in according with article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and subparagraphs of the article.
