EU Cooperation and Verification Mechanism: Effectiveness in Countering and Preventing Political Corruption
The process of accession to the EU is accompanied by numerous changes in candidate countries and by efforts to ensure their irreversibility. In European integration practice, two approaches are used to demonstrate the irreversibility of reforms: until the moment of gaining full membership in the EU, when the candidate is given a certain period to confirm the stability of the reforms carried out, and after gaining full membership, through the use of additional control mechanisms.
