Peculiarities of Application of Contact Methods for Measuring the Temperature of Technological Objects

Contact methods are usually used to measure the temperature of industrial technological objects. When using the contact method to create the necessary conditions for heat exchange, thermal transducer must be in direct contact with the object of study, the temperature of which must be measured. When measuring stationary temperatures, the readings must be taken after a certain time interval from the moment of contact of the thermal transducer with the object of study, when a state of thermal equilibrium is established between them.

CHALLENGES OF TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT DURING THE FRICTION STIR WELDING PROCESS

The exact determination of the process zone temperature can be considered as an increasingly important role in the control and monitoring of the friction stir welding process (FSW). At present, temperature measurement is carried out with the aid of a temperature sensor integrated into the tool (usually thermocouples). Since these cannot be attached directly to the joining area, heat dissipation within the tool and to the environment cause measurement deviations as well as a time delay in the temperature measurement.
