The review is devoted to the new monograph “Reality +: virtual worlds and problems of philosophy” by the famous philosopher David Chalmers. As can be seen from the title of the book, in it the author examines the philosophical potential of virtual reality for the possible solution of philosophical problems, namely: from ontology (problems of reality and hypotheses about simulation) to values (a good and happy life in virtual reality). 

The Ability of Language To Reflect Reality: Reference Theory and Dictionary Theory. (Research Article)

The article deals with the fundamental problem of hermeneutics and the whole study of language as a means of communication - the ability of language to reflect reality.The study begins with an overview of the problem and the authors who dealt with it. This is followed by a detailed review of referential theory as the main and oldest theory in the study of language functions.

A Human Being as the Twofold Entety of the Psychological and Ontological Dimensions (Review of the Monograph: Petrushenko, V. (2020). Psychological Ontology. Experience of the Construction of Non-traditional Ontology. Lviv: “the New World-2000”)

      The review is devoted to the analysis of features of a theoretical construction which Victor Petrushenko calls as “psychological ontology”. The review emphasizes the original explanation of the structure of the psychological picture of the human world and its components – forms of empirical knowledge (feelings, perceptions and representations). The author of the monograph analyzes the dynamic interaction of thinking, or the second reflection, with the psychics (the first reflection), as a result of which we distinguish between being and non-being.

Can Physics Explain Everything? Review of the Shon Carroll’s Book “The Big Picture” [Ukrainian Edition]. Kharkiv: Publishing House “Ranok”: Fabula, 2019. – 400 pp.

In this review, a book which was written by American theoretical physicists Shon Carroll is considered. He suggests his point of view on the Universe and reality called poetic naturalism. Its main principle is realism and objectivism. The author explains his conception by supporting it with specific examples and modern researches in the field of theoretic physics. He discusses such topics as consciousness, cognition, and thinking. The main alternative for his conception he considers to be the ones which are using dualistic, theistic or idealistic notions.
