Political preferences of citizens of West Galicia on parliamentary elections in Poland towards the post-communist cleveage (Research Article)

The article is dedicated to the study of political preferences of the citizens of historical West Galicia that is in Poland and which consists mainly of two regions - Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian Voivodeships. The main constraint that determined the elections in Poland and other post-socialist, post-soviet countries was the Post-Communist cleavage. These Post-communist cleavage based on the divide between the parties originating from the communist regime, and those with roots in the former opposition to these communist parties.

Political Preferences in Elections to Sejm in Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian Voivodships in Comparison

The article examines the political preferences of voters in two voivodeships – Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian voivoships. Polish political parties were divided on the left-center-right axis. In the research was given the list of names of the most important political parties in Poland and their ideological positioning in the left-right spectrum in period 1991–2015. Also were described results of main political parties of Poland in this peculiar region of Western Galicia since 1991 and were stipulated the difference between overall results in Poland and local peculiarities.
