THE IMPACT OF SOCIOCULTURAL FACTORS OF GENDER DIFFERENCES ON THE DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURAL PLANNING OF THE RESIDENTIAL ENVIRONMENT

This article investigates how sociocultural factors of gender differences influence the design and architectural planning of residential environments. In the problem statement, the author emphasizes that traditional architectural approaches often rely on an “average” user model, overlooking the specific needs of various gender groups. As a result, certain residents—particularly women, the elderly, and people with disabilities—may face unsafe and uncomfortable conditions.

The article discloses the peculiarities of the nature and residential environment in the first garden cities in Galicia: “Salwator” in Krakow and “Novyi Svit” in Lviv. The topicality of the issue is predetermined by the need for supplementing and developing available scientific researches related to the study of the garden city concept as well as for analyzing profoundly and comparing the architectural and townplanning structures of the garden cities in Galicia at the early stages of their development.
