Source for sediments of the Carpathian flysch: a geodynamic aspect
This paper is concerned with the problem of the source of terrigenous material for the flysch formation of the Carpathian region. As can be seen from the analysis of geological material, the “theory of troughs”, the notion of stationary cordillera and giant waterways do not solve this problem. It is ascertained that in the Early Mesozoic, due to large-scale stratification and destruction of the earth’s crust of the northern part of Gondwana numerous microplates and granite-gneiss massifs, which have filled the Tethys Ocean, were formed.
