The foreword to Olexandr Kulchytskyi’s article «Order or Chaos in Modern Philosophy» (1939) analyzes its content from a historical perspective and identifies its current significance. It is assumed that on the eve of the Second World War, the Ukrainian philosopher aimed to interest the Ukrainian public in modern philosophy, as he considered it useful in understanding the political life of the time and effective in counteracting party propaganda. Attention is drawn to Kulchytsky’s popularizing activities in the field of philosophy and a conclusion is made about the value of his example in promoting the formation of the philosophical culture of Ukrainians.
