About the Сonference

The International student scientific-practical conference "GOOD SOLUTIONS FOR GAPS IN PHARMACY: IN LINE WITH THE EUROPEAN PRIORITIES" wfs held at Lviv Polytechnic National University as part of an international educational project Erasmus+ Jean Monnet 101085257 GoodPharma.

The work of the conference took place on the basis of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the Lviv Polytechnic National University.

The purpose of the International Student Scientific and Practical Conference  was to discuss current problems and spread European experience in implementing best practices, in particular pharmaceutical practice (GxP); formation of system knowledge by studying informational, socio-economic, legal, logistical, qualification and neuroeconomic aspects of pharmaceutical practice; promoting excellence in teaching and research; providing the target audience with skills for professional communication with people with special needs; as well as establishing contacts and developing cooperation between students of the Lviv Polytechnic National University and students of higher education institutions of Ukraine and other countries.

In total, more than 200 participants took part in the conference, including from Ukraine, Poland, and France.

The work of the conference began on 11/23/2023 with greetings from members of the Program Committee:

  • Welcome speech to the participants of the conference by the head of the Department of Marketing and Logistics of the Institute of Economics and Management of the Polytechnic National University, professor Yevhen KRYKAVSKYI

  • Head of the Technologies of Pharmaceutical Preparations Department, National University of Pharmacy, professor Oleksandr KUKHTENKO (Kharkiv);

After the welcoming words, the conference continued with a MASTER CLASS on the topic: "Pharmacy for people with disabilities: features of service and employment", conducted by the head of the Resource Center for Educational Information Technologies for People with Special Needs of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Oksana POTYMKO. Participants in the master class received practical skills in serving patients with disabilities in pharmacies through a simulation game. The speaker separately outlined the problems faced by people with disabilities, those with vision, hearing, and wheelchair users. Students were asked to put on special black blindfolds and try to order the medicine, give the pharmacist the money and get the rest. Participants learned a lot about the feasibility of equipping pharmacies with sound signals, certified ramps and handrails on both sides, wide doorways, a call button, and most importantly, how to properly communicate with people with disabilities and serve such patients.

TRAINING on the topic “Game-based practices as a method of motivation and development of competencies in pharmacy” was conducted by 4th year student Volodymyr KRASNOPOLSKYІ, which has already provided practical evidence for carrying out such approaches at pharmaceutical enterprises. The training consists of two parts: evidence and a presentation of the possibilities of developing gaming practices in the initial process and the interactive part. Students members of five teams, which were located both in the session hall, and teams from other educational institutions, which were additionally trained in the Teams system, took part in the organization of the leading games. Participants will demonstrate a creative approach to the highest level of implementation of tasks and improvisational initiative.

  • Section 5. Normative and legal basis of pharmacy.

and presentations of student scientific works were presented.

The second day of the International Student Scientific and Practical Conference was also very rich and informative.

The second day began with a welcome speech to the participants of the conference by Professor Paul Sabatier of the University of Toulouse III, France; Florence BEDOS-BELVAL

Then the work of the conference continued in sections:

  • Section 6. Innovative educational programs for pharmacy.
  • Section 7. Digital technologies in pharmacy.
  • Section 8. Logistics and supply chain management in pharmacy.
  • Section 9. Pharmacy for people with disabilities: services and employment opportunities.
  • Section 10. Responding to health crises, improving patients' quality of life and disease prevention.

Presentations of scientific works of students from various higher education institutions were presented.

During the conference, the participants gained new knowledge about modern European practices in the field of health care, in particular the distribution of medicines, the development of pharmacy in certain European countries, marketing practices and logistics in pharmacy, methods of improving the quality of medicines, processing and utilization of pharmaceutical waste and elimination pharmaceutical pollution, the use in pharmacy and the production of cosmetic and food products of new auxiliary substances of biological origin, the possibility of synthesis and research of the biological activity of active pharmaceutical ingredients in veterinary pharmacy, pharmaceutical support of various groups of patients and improvement of their quality of life.

At the end of the reports, the results of the conference were discussed, the conclusions and decisions of the conference were approved. The conclusion of the scientific discussion was summarized by Bohdan HROMOVYK, professor, head of the Department of Pharmacy Organization and Economics of the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University. Prof. Bohdan HROMOVYK expressed confidence in the necessity of holding the next such conference and provided a number of practical suggestions for its holding.

The closing speech was delivered by Professor Vira Lubenets, Head of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Compounds, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of ICCT, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
