This article investigates the technological conditions for applying functional varnish coatings — a barrier varnish and a heat seal adhesive — to paper substrates by flexographic printing for the manufacture of sustainable packaging. The study was conducted on a Soma Optima 2 flexographic press equipped with an auxiliary IPU (Intelligent Printing Unit) station. The optimum application parameters were established: sequential application of SunBar® OGR barrier varnish and SunFuse® Heat Seal themosealable adhesive at a print speed of 100 m/min.

An overview of the current state of digital printing in the packaging industry is provided in the article. The key technologies (inkjet and electrophotographic printing), materials, andareasofapplicationof digital printing systems inpackagingmanufacturing are examined. The advantages of digital printing – personalization, high production preparation speed, cost­efficiency for small print runs, and integration with smart technologies – are analyzed.

The article highlights the process of designing, constructing, and visualizing packaging for board games using modern computer technologies. Two types of packaging of different sizes were developed and optimized considering ergonomic, aesthetic, and functional requirements. An analysis was conducted of the main criteria for selecting the dimensions and structural features of the packaging that ensure convenient storage, transportation, and use.

The article presents the results of research on the technological process of manufacturing boxes made of binding board. One of the most popular materials for producing boxes and packaging is cardboard, which differs in its physical characteristics depending on the specific application area. When choosing cardboard, it is crucial to consider the physical properties of the raw material and the technological specifics of its processing.

The rapid development of pharmacy in recent years has created and increased the possibility of the generation and accumulation of pharmaceutical waste at the enterprises and in the environment. Only a few enterprises deal with medical waste disposal. Medical waste recyclingrequires an extremely high level of attention and carriesgreat risks associated with handling this medical waste.

The structure and principle of work of the developed machine for packing wood charcoal is considered. Design features, control system and advantages of the developed automaton are specified.

In this paper an overview of novel biodegradable polymers for food packaging is presented. The aim was to present factors influencing polymer degradation and biodegradation in various environments. It was noted that biodegradable polymers are an imperfect alternative for classical polymers and their decomposition strongly depends on degradation environment. It was also shown that there are various approaches in different countries to certification of biodegradable polymer materials, which rather complicates its application than promotes it.
