In the XXI century, most people live in cities. That’s why issues related to life sustainment and other functionality of cities and the interaction and coexistence of different population groups in them are especially important and societally valuable. Highlighting such problems is usually under the purview of urban journalism, for all the conditionality of any classifications. Urban issues in media tend to be covered by specialised media, often created by corresponding organisations, that study the city and then publish analytical materials.

The purpose of this article is to highlight the topic of the emotional impact of the environment on society in the context of key research areas of contemporary urbanists. The scientific novelty of this work lies in identifying the main principles of modern urbanistic studies and the prospects for the evolution of urban planning. The article analyzes the characteristics of urban development in the 21st century. It explores the interconnection between urban planning and other scientific fields such as psychology, sociology, and economics.

The article examines the formation and development of the garden city concept in Poland during the first quarter of the twentieth century. The experience of Polish architecture and urbanism in the context of the garden city idea before the First World War and in the first postwar years is highlighted. Examples of realized Polish garden cities, the activities of both individual figures and entire societies and organizations that promoted the garden city concession are described.

The sense of human life is to prove professional excellence in building your state. We do not think about what education and perfection are. We need to start with our native nest, locality, and region and join state structures with a healthy foundation. What we have: looted land and mineral resources, historical monuments, forests, protected areas, rivers and lakes, and the most disappointing thing is that we lose human professional resources.

On the base of the historical and urban studies it is presented the hypothesis that the town of Zhovkva is an example of late Renaissance urbanism and was built at the end of 16th century according to the project based on the concept of ideal city. The towns are characterised with a well-preserved original. Renaissance planning structure and a number of architectural monuments that are connected with it.

The article studies the problem of a gradual change in the direction of urban discourse under the influence of critical -re-considering of the heritage in modernists projecting and the range of social and technological initiatives implemented on the verge of 21st century.

This article presents analyses of thoughts and ideas expressed at the international symposium, which was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of cooperation between the Institute of Architecture of Lviv Polytechnic National University and the Faculty of Architecture and Planning of Vienna University of Technology. The results of cooperation and perspectives of its further development are considered in the context of presented ideas.
