town of Zboriv

The Battle of Zboriv is one of the major events in Ukrainian and Polish history.
The Zboriv battlefield was explored by a Ukrainian-American archeological expedition led
by author and archeologist Bogdan Strotsen. The studies lasted several years. The article
covers the history of the Zboriv battle and reveals the main results of archaeological research.
The results of the studies allowed to hypothesize the construction of elements of field
fortifications and to interpret their localization in the territory.

У 2001 р. д-р. А.Мандзій, працюючи з науковцями як у Польщі, так і в Україні, ініціював створення комісії для вивчення козацьких полів битв. Об’єктом для досліджень було вибрано поле битви під Зборовом 1649 р. Подібно до попередніх розкопок на полі бою в Берестечку, проект «Зборів» активно використовував аналіз історичних документів, картографічні дані та методи тестування археологічних полів. Починаючи з 2002 року, група дослідників, що працювали за керівництва д-ра Maндзія спільно з Інститутом українознавства імені І.
