Aim. To make clear geological-paleoceanographic conditions of Late Jurassic sedimentogenesis within the Carpathian part of the northern continental margin of Tethys (Outer zone of the Carpathian Foredeep). Method. Method includes sedimentological-paleoceanographic, lithofacial, facial-genetic, paleoecological analyses, and   lithogenetic interpretation of geologic investigation of well (GIW results. Results. In this work the priority fundamental problem of modern geology, such as the formation of sedimentary complexes of the ancient continental margin, has been considered. An evolution of the sedimentary basin and the sedimentogenesis processes within the Carpathian part of the northern continental margin of Tethys during the Jurassic period were reconstructed. The influence of tectonic, climatic, and oceanographic factors on sediments’ accumulation in the mentioned region was studied. A conclusion about the decisive influence of eustatic changes of the World Ocean level on sedimentary processes in the Carpathian segment of the Tethys Ocean in Late Jurassic epoch was made. Scientific novelty. The evolution of sedimentogenesis processes within the Carpathian part of the northern continental margin of Tethys during the Late Jurassic epoch was in complex analyzed for the first time. The paleoceanographic reconstructions of the sedimentary basin in Oxfordian, Kimmeridgian, and Tithonian times were carried out. On this basis, sedimentary models of Oxfordian, Kimmeridgian, and Tithonian  paleoshelf basin were constructed. The deposits of the Late Jurassic shelf of the Carpathian segment of the Tethys ocean were attributed to the first global level of avalanche sedimentation, mainly of biogenic, sporadically chemogenic type, for the first time, Practical significance. Sedimentary (shelf carbonate bank-reef) formations associated with the first global level of avalanche sedimentation were established. The spatial development of reef bodies (which are recognized as being potential reservoirs of  hydrocarbons) in the south-eastern part of the Outer zone of the Carpathian Foredeep was projected. Further identification of these formations within the ancient Carpathian continental margin of Tethys will provide new data on the oil and gas bearing potential of the considered region.
