Complaint Procedure for Violations of Academic Integrity and Publication Ethics

The editorial board of the journal “Advances in Cyber-Physical Systems” adheres to the principles of academic integrity and publication ethics defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All complaints regarding possible violations are reviewed impartially, confidentially, and with respect for each party’s right to provide an explanation. The journal’s editorial board aims to respond to all complaints promptly and constructively and to resolve them.

Complaints may be submitted by authors, reviewers, readers, members of the editorial board, or any other individuals and must include sufficient evidence or specific examples of possible violations.

Upon receipt of a complaint, the editorial board conducts a preliminary review. If the violation appears to be serious, an editorial committee is established to carry out an investigation. The author(s) or other involved parties are given the opportunity to provide written explanations.

A decision is made by the editorial board or the Editor-in-Chief based on the submitted materials. Depending on the nature of the violation, the following measures may be applied: publication of corrections, publication of a retraction, rejection of the article, refusal of publication, or temporary suspension of the author from submitting new manuscripts.

All decisions are documented in writing, and the parties are informed of the outcomes. The editorial board may forward materials to the institution where the author is employed or to relevant ethical or legal authorities if the violation is serious.

Suggestions or complaints should be sent to the journal’s email address [email protected]. All messages will be reviewed within thirty working days. However, depending on the complexity of the complaint, additional time may be required to complete the investigation.

A complaint must be concise, specific, and contain sufficient information to demonstrate any possible violation of publication ethics. If possible, supporting documents should also be provided.

Personal complaints against authors, editors, reviewers, or the journal’s editorial board will receive a response indicating the reasons why the complaint is considered to fall outside the journal’s responsibility. In addition, the journal refrains from conducting an investigation when complaints are submitted in an abusive, threatening, or defamatory form.

Review procedure

The complaint is registered by the journal’s editorial office. A preliminary assessment of its validity is conducted, and if necessary, authors, reviewers, and other parties are involved. The editorial board may also involve independent experts. The final decision is made by the editorial board or the Editor-in-Chief.

Decision and actions

Based on the results of the review, the following decisions may be taken:

  • rejection of the complaint;
  • correction of the publication;
  • retraction of the article;
  • other measures in accordance with COPE recommendations.

All complaints are handled confidentially.
