The article research modern practices of musefication of castles on the example of the
Tatran region of Slovakia, where the process of musefication of historical fortifications has
intensified over the last time. Selected directions and forms of musefication in accordance with
the historical and cultural value and monumental analysis of castles are analyzed. Modern
approaches and exposition solutions that allow to maximize the potential of the monument
while preserving its historical and cultural value are highlighted. The trends characteristic for
the musefication of historical fortifications are established, regardless of the level of
preservation and the chosen direction.
