The method of determining the roll of tower-type structures is described, which does not require an immediate approach to the construction. We give an analysis of formulas and an estimate of the accuracy of the method. The most favorable conditions for determining the roll by this method are revealed. The effect of errors on the slope of the horizontal axis of the tool as a function of distance to the structure is considered. The results of measurements of rolls of reinforced concrete chimneys 250 meters high and the accuracy of these results are given. The comparison of the method with the method of coordinates is given.
