In order to enable scientists, graduate students, and the engineering staff of geodesic institutions to publish their research studies in a timely manner, and bring them to the attention of a wide circle of readers, the Republican Interdepartmental Scientific and Technical Collection – “Geodesy, Cartography, and Aerial Photography” was first published in 1964. This collection was meant to come out once or twice a year. It replaced “Scientific Notes” of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute, Geodesic Series (No. 1-10), published from 1953 to 1963.
The first issue of the collection “Geodesy, Cartography, and Aerial Photography” was published in 1964; it was composed of three main sections “Geodesy”, “Cartography”, and “Aerial Photography”, and a section called “Chronicles”. Prof. M.K. Myhal became the managing editor, and the Editorial Board counted fourteen scientists, most of whom came from Lviv.
Starting with issue No.55 (1993), the collection was published in Ukrainian, and was called by its present name “Geodesy, Cartography, and Aerial Photography”. At that time, M.I. Kravtsov, Docent, Candidate of Technical Sciences, was the managing editor. Professor P.M. Zazuliak, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, worked as managing editor from issue No.56 (1995) to issue No.69 (2007); Prof. K.R. Tretiak, Doctor of Technical Sciences has been the editor from issue No.70 (2008) until now.
