The rural settlement occupies a very important place in the modern socio-cultural structure of our state. Ukraine has a huge agricultural potential, and rural development has a significant impact on the economic situation. An important task of society is to increase the quality of life of its inhabitants. The comfort of rural settlements is influenced by the quality of housing, the level of cultural and industrial infrastructure. Domestic and foreign experience confirms the importance of the development of rural entrepreneurship, services, cultural education.

The article outlines evolutionary stages of the architectural and planning structure of Galician towns founded in the second half of the 16th – 17th century from the moment of their foundation until now. It was established that sacral buildings present the most stable elements of the planning structure and act as compositional dominants.

The article examines the history of the formation and development of the architecture of the monastery complexes on the territory of the Galician Podolia and defines socio-political factors that influenced this process. The information about the most significant monastery of Terebovlia region was introduced into scientific circulation.
