Analysis of Calculation Model for Primary Coolant Fission Products

The sources of radioactive contamination of the primary coolant by fission products when the unit is operating at the rated power are as follows: defect fuel elements with gas leakiness and substantial damages, surface contamination of the outer surfaces of fuel claddings, superficial contamination of structural materials of fuel assemblies.

Synergistic Effect of BaCl2 on Corrosion Inhibition of Copper by Mentha Spicata Oil in 1M Nitric Acid: Gravimetric and Raman Spectroscopy Studies

The effect of Mentha Spicata oil and the mixture of BaCl2 and Mentha Spicata oil on corrosion of copper in 1M HNO3 have been investigated using weight loss methods and Raman spectroscopy. The study revealed that copper is more efficiently inhibited by Mentha Spicata oil in the presence of BaCl2 than pure oil. The inhibition efficiencies increased with increased concentration of the additives. The highest inhibition efficiency of 56.12 % was observed with single Mentha Spicata oil.

Analysis of the Effect of Pollution of Component Surfaces as a Result of Possible Contact of Fresh Nuclear Fuel with Sea Atmosphere on Corrosion

Acquisition and analysis of the information was performed on possible effect of components of sea atmosphere in case of their precipitation on the assembly surfaces on the corrosion of structural materials of items of fuel assemblies (FAs) of water-water energetic reactor (VVER-1000) in their subsequent operation. The data is presented on static and dynamic tests of alloy E-110 at temperatures of 300–350 °С in water and standard coolant of the reactor polluted with chlorides and iodine, as well as of alloy E-110 under special pollution of its surface with chlorides.

Coke Quenching Plenum Equipment Corrosion and Its Dependents on the Quality of the Biochemically Treated Water of the Coke-Chemical Production

Steel corrosion processes that occur due to the effects of the biochemically treated water in coke quenching plenums have been studied. Model investigations into the processes of the corrosion failure of carbon St. 3 steel and alloyed 18Х1MF  steel were carried out to study the behavior of the  metal exposed to the action of the primary but treated water used for the coke quenching after the metal is heated to 373 K and 773 K.

Food Additives as Factor of Corrosion of Mild Steel in Neutral Solution

It has been showed that food additives E451 and E459 inhibit corrosion in neutral water-salt medium and additives E316, E631, E621, E631+E551, herbs and spices increased it up to 1.75 times. Under microbial corrosion condition, inducted by sulfate-reducing bacteria, inhibition action (up to 80.9%) was discovered only for additive E459. Other studied additives increased microbial corrosion up to 2.27 times. The presence of food additives in corrosive medium influences the quantity of sulfate-reducing bacteria in biofilm on steel surface.

Complex Corrosion Protection of Tubing in Gas Wells

Analysis of the efficient complex application of zinc coatings such as sherardizing on tubing surface and carbon dioxide inhibitors during the natural gas extraction on Lutsenkivske gas condensate deposit wells has been carried out. Microstructural and electrochemical investigations of zinc diffusion layer have been conducted. Existing industrial experience shows that the complex corrosion protection significantly increases the life of wells, which significantly increases the economic performance and prevents environmental pollution.

Production of Corrosion Inhibitors for Oil Refining Equipment Using Natural Components

It is proposed to use plant and animal raw materials to produce corrosion inhibitors of oil refining equipment. The corrosion inhibitors based on vegetable oil and animal fat with di- and triethanolamine have been synthesized, nitrogen-containing corrosion inhibitors have been obtained, their physical and chemical parameters have been determined. By using the gravimetric method the protective effect of the received inhibitors was determined on St20 steel in a two-phase corrosive environment simulating the preliminary preparation conditions of oil at electro-salting and dehydration plants.

Corrosion-mechanical resistance of arc-sprayed coatings made from cored powders

Result of investigations of resistance against corrosion and mechanical resistance of obtained by means of arc-spray metallization (with the use of cored wires) coatings are presented. The cored wires (CWs) enable us to regulate the chemical composition and, consequently, properties of the deposited coating in a wide range.
