Study on the Liquid Phase Reaction of Ozone with Ethylbenzene and Its Derivatives

This work deals with the investigation of the reactions of ethylbenzene and its derivatives with ozone in a solution of glacial acetic acid. The products and kinetic features of oxidation were studied, the kinetic parameters of the reactions were found, and the mechanism of ozonation in the liquid phase was proposed. The influence of deactivating substituents (-Br, -NO2) in the aromatic ring on the selectivity of the side chain oxidation of the substrate was established.

Electrochemical Synthesis of Peroxyacetic Acid on Pt/PtO and PbO2 Anodes

The kinetics of anodic processes on Pt/PtO and PbO2 anodes has been studied in water solutions of acetic acid. The addition of sulfuric acid has a catalytic effect in the electrochemical synthesis of peroxyacetic acid. The choice of promoters of peroxide-particles formation has been proved. I, Cl (current efficiency is 1.2–1.5 %) particles have been defined as the most effective for platinum anode and I, F (current efficiency is 0.50–0.55 %) have been defined as the most effective for lead-dioxide anode.

Оксалати металів як каталізатори процесу естерифікації

The features of acetic acid esterification with С4–С5–alcohols in presence of metal oxalates and other organic and inorganic salts as a catalyst have been studied. It has been found that the presence of conjugated double bonds in oxalic acid reduces the electron density on the cation of catalyst, but due to insolubility of oxalic acid salts in the reaction medium effective influence of anion almost disappears.  Досліджені закономірності естерифікації оцтової кислоти спиртами С4–С5 у присутності оксалатів металів та багатьох інших мінеральних і органічних солей.
