Residential buildings of the 19th - early 20th centuries occupy an important place in the development of Lviv and form the general appearance of the city. Most of the buildings are in an unsatisfactory condition. Over time, due to lack of proper operation, low funding, and low level of awareness of residents, residential buildings of this period lose their authentic appearance and need professional restoration. Therefore, it is important to study the history of buildings. analysis of their composition, facade decoration and planning and spatial structure.

The problem of research and preservation of architectural heritage is more relevant than ever in Ukraine today. This problem is exacerbated under the influence of modern unstable socio-political processes and possible risks associated with the threat of military aggression from the Russian Federation. Therefore, the historical site of the city of Lviv, the oldest part of which is included in the UNESCO world heritage, needs increased attention and security measures from the authorities, the public and the scientific community.
