Research is conducted among all branches of legal sciences. Research and development work is included in the concept of “research”. Research is the process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information to answer questions. To qualify this process as research, it must have certain characteristics: it must, as far as possible, be controlled, systematic, valid and verified, empirical and critical. Each industry uses scientific research methods in different quantities and different fields. The role of logic in research is key because it helps to draw sound conclusions.

The article highlights the role of student researches at higher educational institutions and further directions of their development, and describes the methodology of scientific researches of students of the Institute of Architecture and Design majoring in Design in the process of their studies for the first (Bachelor’s) and second (Master’s) education and qualification levels.

The authors constructed an economic-mathematical model of optimal allocation of financial resources for research and development using the mechanism of dynamic programming.  In the conditional example, the authors calculated the allocation of budget funds using the method of dynamic programming.  In order to evaluate the prospects of applying the proposed model, the authors analyzed the current state of funding for research and development and considered the positive foreign experience.  The expediency of using the proposed model in domestic practice is substantiated.
