The article describes the essence of the concept of “internally displaced person”. Theoretical and legal approaches to the content of the concept of “internally displaced persons” have been studied. The article analyzes the social security of internally displaced persons. Based on the analysis of current legislation and modern scientific research, a definition of the concept of «internally displaced persons» is proposed. The causes of forced migration and their impact on the social security of internally displaced persons in Ukraine are indicated. Namely, due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, a large number of Ukrainian citizens were forced to move, saving their own lives, which led to forced migration, both external and internal.
