The peculiarities of regulating the right of the elderly to social protection at the
international legal level are defined, the main international legal acts in this field are
described. Among the international instruments relevant for the social protection of the elderly
are: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Social Charter, the
International Aging Plan on Aging, adopted by the First World Assembly on Aging in 1982,
the United Nations Principles the elderly, Declaration on Aging. The analysis of international
documents shows that their main purpose is to guarantee every person a safe and dignified old
age, adequate access to the goods and services of the elderly, medical care, ensuring the
opportunity to participate actively in the life of society as a full member.
