Purpose. The article substantiates the role of project management tools as a driver for innovative development of SMEs during the transition to a knowledge economy. The research develops an integration matrix for scientific capital and analyzes SME access mechanisms via innovation ecosystems. It conceptualizes project management software (PMS) as an infrastructural component of organizational scientific capital enabling knowledge transformation into intellectual assets.

Trends in the development of modern markets, such as the globalization, the growing importance of product quality, price and customer satisfaction, the increasing importance of sustainable relationships with consumers, the growing importance of the degree of application of new information and communication technologies and the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly influenced the development of new organizational forms of enterprise management. In this regard, the question of the impact of telecommuting on relationships and interpersonal networks within organizations has become relevant.

It has been established that today virtual structures are the most promising forms of improving the management of an organization, improving efficiency and quality, productivity and competitiveness in a global (informational) economy. At the same time, such tendencies exacerbate the problem of unlawful and unauthorized actions of various entities that use the means of electronic information environment, including digital assets.
