The article is devoted to the problem of the essence of tactics in criminalistics. Tactical reception as the main element of forensic tactics is a scientifically developed and practically tested behavior (action) or a set of actions of the investigator, as well as other subjects of pre-trial and judicial proceedings, in order to create the best conditions for detection, collection, research, verification and evaluation information in the course of criminal proceedings. The article presents the positions of forensic scientists on the essence of tactics as a component of forensic tactics. In particular, based on the analysis of many scientific positions, the definition of tactical reception is given, as well as the main features that characterize tactical reception. The position is expressed that although tactics are an integral part of investigative or procedural action, its simplest elementary and most appropriate in a particular investigative situation action within the investigative or procedural action, but they can not be equated with investigative (investigative) actions. Tactical methods include, first of all: actions which, in accordance with the requirements of criminal procedure law, as well as ethics and morality, are directly aimed at identifying the good faith or bad faith of participants in criminal proceedings (including suspect, accused, victim, witness); actions aimed at eliminating negative circumstances on the way to solving the problems of criminal proceedings due to the negative position of certain participants in the process or due to unscrupulous performance of their procedural obligations; actions aimed at revealing the capabilities of those subjects of criminal proceedings who, although potentially endowed with certain evidentiary information, but there are certain subjective obstacles to the provision of this information during a particular investigative (search) action, etc. It is pointed out the need to expand the possibilities of using tactics in the judicial stages of criminal proceedings by the relevant subjects of criminal proceedings.
