In the modern period of civilization, along with the problems of global war and peace, ecology, population, food, energy, which are considered "traditional", the problem of terrorism has intensified. This is not surprising, as the number of victims of terrorist acts has been extremely high in recent years. It is terrorism that poses a social danger both to a particular state and to humanity as a whole. In modern conditions, terrorism is constantly evolving, acquiring new forms and methods. That is why it is quite natural that a number of issues remain related to its further dissemination, essence and prospects in the fight against it. To solve these problems in the science of criminology, a number of approaches have been formulated that should be used during the pre-trial investigation. Terrorism covers not only the political or economic plane of public life, it affects, above all, the moral and ethical requirements of mankind. Therefore, at the initial stage of the investigation of terrorist acts, special attention should be paid to typical investigative situations that arise in the investigation of terrorist acts using explosive devices. The article considers typical investigative situations in the investigation of terrorist acts using explosive devices, namely: 1) received information about the detection of an explosive device; 2) information was received about the detention of a person who had an explosive device with him; 3) received information about the explosion and: a) the person who committed the crime is unknown; b) there is reliable information about the person who committed the crime, but he was not detained; c) there are incomplete data on the person who committed the crime; d) a person suspected of committing a crime, detained at the scene of the crime or after its commission.
