General Principles and Conflict of Interest

Bulletin of Lviv Polytechnic National University: Journalism adheres to high ethical standards in scientific publishing and commits to maintaining honesty, transparency, and responsibility in all aspects of the publishing process.

The journal is committed to transparency and integrity in scholarly publishing.
Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. The editorial board ensures independence from external influence. All stages of manuscript handling are documented, and editorial decisions are made based on peer review reports. The journal adheres to international publishing standards and best practices. All participants in the publication process (authors, reviewers, editors) must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of the manuscript.

A conflict of interest may arise from financial, institutional, or personal relationships. Authors must include a Conflict of Interest statement in their manuscripts (or explicitly state the absence of conflicts). Reviewers and editors must declare any conflicts and withdraw from the process if necessary.

In the case of manuscripts submitted by the editor or members of the editorial board of the journal, such submissions are handled in strict accordance with the principles of independence and transparency as recommended by COPE guidelines. The editor who is the author or has a potential conflict of interest is fully excluded from any stage of the editorial decision-making process regarding the manuscript. The evaluation is conducted exclusively through a double-blind external independent peer review process by qualified experts who have no conflicts of interest. The final decision is based on peer review reports and the journal’s editorial criteria, ensuring objectivity and impartiality.

In cases where additional safeguards are required to ensure impartiality (e.g., when the editor-in-chief is an author or in situations involving potential institutional or personal conflicts), the journal may appoint an independent guest editor to oversee the review process and make the final editorial decision.

The journal applies clear procedures for managing conflicts of interest and ensures transparency in editorial decision-making.

Policy on Open Research Data

The journal supports the principles of Open Science and adheres to international standards of research data management. We encourage authors to make their research data openly available in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). Authors are encouraged to store their data in institutional, national, or international research data repositories (e.g., Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad, Mendeley Data, OSF, institutional repositories, etc.); to ensure open access to the data (except in cases where this is not possible for ethical or legal reasons); and to provide in the article a link to the data via a DOI issued by the repository.

Self-Archiving Policy
The publisher allows authors to deposit the final version of the article — the Author’s Accepted Manuscript (AAM), i.e., the version accepted after peer review but before publisher’s typesetting. Authors may upload the AAM to: an institutional repository (university or research institution repository); a thematic or disciplinary repository (e.g., arXiv, SocArXiv, PubMed Central, etc.); or their personal website or researcher profile page. Making the AAM openly accessible helps maximize the visibility and impact of the research work.

Use of Software Tools
The editorial team uses specialized software to: verify authenticity and copyright compliance; confirm authorship and textual integrity; and detect plagiarism or inappropriate use of others’ results.
