Research on the Technological Process of Manufacturing Boxes From Binding Board

The article presents the results of research on the technological process of manufacturing boxes made of binding board. One of the most popular materials for producing boxes and packaging is cardboard, which differs in its physical characteristics depending on the specific application area. When choosing cardboard, it is crucial to consider the physical properties of the raw material and the technological specifics of its processing. Binding board offers a number of advantages, namely: environmental friendliness, hygiene, and safety; strength, rigidity, and reliability; resistance to moisture, sunlight, and dust; broad possibilities for design; wear resistance; and resistance to mechanical impact, which protects products during transportation.
The following types of binding board box constructions are distinguished: self­as­sembling boxes, pillow boxes, cardboard boxes with magnetic closures, ribbon boxes, sliding drawer boxes (sliders), ego boxes, hat boxes, chest­style boxes, custom­shaped boxes, slipcases, book cases, and others. The technological process of manufacturing boxes from binding board includes the following operations: creation of a technical specification; development and approval of a design layout; selection of materials for box production; packaging design; production and approval of a color certificate (in the case of Pantone printing) or a digital color proof (for CMYK printing); adjustment of design details, dimensions, and decoration; printing of the covering material; lamination of the covering material; die­cutting of the covering material; hot foil stamping; board cutting; board die­cutting; assembling the box base; wrapping the base with covering material; quality control and packaging of the finished product.
