THE CREATIVE CONTRIBUTION OF ARCHITECT VLADYSLAV SADLOVSKYY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LVIV ARCHITECTURAL SCHOOL

Aspects of architectural and artistic creativity of professor of architecture Vladislav Sadlovsky, as well as his contribution to the architectural heritage of Lviv during the secession period are covered. The archival curricula of the architectural school of the mentioned period, art disciplines and methods of their teaching are analyzed. This year, June 25 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous Lviv architect, designer, restorer and teacher of the Lviv Architectural School Vladyslav Sadlovsky, author of a number of secession buildings in Lviv and beyond. It is important to repeatedly confirm the great contribution of the Lviv architect of the Austrian period in the development of Lviv architecture.

Brief biographical information about V. Sadlovsky in encyclopedic publications and online resources is provided by Lviv scientists Biryulev Y., Smirnov Y., Timofeenko V., polish researchers Brzozowski S. and others. Mostly scientific publications focus on describing the best projects of V. Sadlovsky. In this article, the curricula for the archives of the Polytechnic School of this period, the names and contents of the disciplines were analyzed in detail, V. Sadlovsky taught. A description of the architectural projects is also given. The synthesis in his work is shown, which consisted not only in the design of architectural buildings, their restoration, but also in the design of interiors and everyday objects.

The purpose of the article is to commemorate the great architect-practitioner who during 1911-1935. He headed the department of artistic direction at the Lviv Polytechnic School and acknowledged his significant contribution to the architecture of our city. Illumination of the creativity of the architect, author of a large number of architectural buildings in Lviv during the secession of the late XIX - early XX century, which became a landmark in the city.

Vladislav Sadlovsky, one of the leading architects of the period, laid the principle of organic integrity when designing a building. Worked in Western Ukraine in the late nineteenth century, observing the Art Nouveau and modernized forms of historical styles. One of the creators of the Lviv secession, applies a complex approach to design: the artist works on every detail of the building exterior, saturating the facades with sculptural decor, forged elements, molding ornaments, colored accents. He also pays great attention to the interior space, designing the interiors, decorating the lobby, stairwells, depending on the type of building. The best buildings of the interwar period are related to the names of professors of the Faculty of Architecture of the Lviv Architectural School, in particular Vladyslav Sadlovsky and other architects. For 24 years, V. Sadlovsky has passed his vision of architecture and real design experience to his students at Lviv Polytechnic.
