The article is aimed at identifying the features of the spatial organization of recreational settlements in the difficult conditions of the mountainous terrain of the Ukrainian Carpathians, highlighting the practical experience in the design and construction of recreational residential buildings, and considering the nome nclature of elements of servicing settlements. The research methodology included field surveys of constructed facilities in Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions over the past 5–6 years, as well as settlements that were under construction as of 2025. The systematization of the collected material on 10 recreational settlements allowed us to formulate the following conclusions: – When developing the master plan of settlements, priority is given to the location of residential buildings, which would ensure that each of them would have the most favourable orientation to the most advantageous views. The most valued locations are those that are close to or bordered by forests; – designers try to provide access for cottage owners' cars as close to their homes as possible; the pedestrian network is designed separately from the driveways; – methods of tolerating the relief of the site in order to minimise earthworks and preserve the site's ecosystems are noteworthy. For this purpose, in many settlements, some of the houses are raised on supports, and sidewalks are also placed on supports above the ground; – to meet the needs of different clients, the settlements provide at least 5 types of recreational cottages, different in size, layout and architecture; – most recreational settlements, in addition to cottages, provide a wide range of common facilities designed to meet the household needs of the residents, provide cultural and entertainment services, and improve health.
