These trends include delivery systems for medicinal and genetic materials, materials for tissue engineering, biointerfaces, biosensors, biocatalysts; growing interest in sustainable and biodegradable materials for a wide range of applications, including textiles, packaging materials and household plastics; as well as functional smart fabrics and apparel for fashion and special use.

He is the Head of the Chemistry and Food Safety department at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. He obtained his master’s degree in chemistry with an honors diploma at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. Dr.rer nat. in  Chemistry from Johannes Guttenberd University of Mainz in 2015 and Dr.Sci in Solid State Chemistry  from Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.  His research interest are the synthesis and application  of metal and semiconductor nanoparticles

Scientific interests include the synthesis of surface-active reactive heterofunctional peroxide-containing copolymers by radical copolymerization and polymer analog transformations, in particular, the synthesis of amphiphilic invertible comb copolymers based on maleic anhydride and their use for surface modification and the preparation of colloidal systems based on them for the immobilization of lipophilic substances and the synthesis of metal nanoparticles; synthesis of amphiphilic oligomeric surfactants by polymer analog transformations through acylation of terminal hydroxyl groups with pyromellitic dianhydride and preparation of colloidal systems based on them for immobilization of lipophilic substances and synthesis of metal nanoparticles; hydrogels based on natural polyglucosamine chitosan and the creation of dispersed and planar delivery systems based on them for drugs and other biologically active substances for medicine and cosmetology; polymer hydrogels for biomedical applications.

Sergiy Riabov

Professor, Head of the Department of Polymer Modification, Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine

Throughout his scientific career up to the present, he has published a total of 409 publications, including 203 articles in Ukrainian and international journals, 4 chapters in books (published in English), 4 books and textbooks (in Ukraine), and 25 patents in Ukraine. He has supervised the research of 5 graduate students who received their doctoral degrees in the field of 02.00.06 - high-molecular-weight compounds chemistry. He is a member of the editorial board of the "Polymer Journal," National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the IXVS of the NASU. He is also a member of the specialized academic council D 26.179.01 of the Institute of High Molecular Weight Compounds Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine and the specialized academic council D 26.001.25 of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

His scientific interests include the chemical modification and study of natural polymers (starch, chitosan, pectin, cellulose), the development of biodegradable polymer compositions for extrusion processes, the chemistry of cyclodextrins (development of inclusion complexes, synthesis of functionalized cyclodextrins and polymers based on them), and the development of functional polymer nanocomposites, including polyelectrolyte complexes (PEC) with different chemical structures, such as natural-synthetic or natural-natural polymers, and nanoparticles of metals and oxides (including silver, copper, zinc oxide) with antimicrobial and antiviral properties.
