It has been established experimentally that the entropy of the height of an individual point of the terrain depends on the remoteness of the latter with respect to the point taken for the origin of the heights count. For distances not exceeding 700-1000 m, this dependence is expressed by the equation H (ZilZ0) = k log / + C, where / is the distance, k and C are parameters that depend on the nature of the relief. The expressions for the average amount of information that contains the mark of any point within the boundaries of a given terrain are obtained for cases of a disordered and ordered set of heights. It is established that the relief has some redundancy.
