Editorial Policy of the Ukrainian Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

The editorial policy of the "Industrial Process Automation in Engineering and Instrumentation" regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools is based on the EU AI Act (https://www.europarl.europa.eu/topics/en/topic/artificial-intelligence), as well as on the official statements of COPE, WAME, JAMA Network, and the recommendations of the ICMJE.

The Editorial Board adheres to this Declaration when evaluating submitted manuscripts. Compliance with the Declaration is considered an essential component of academic integrity.

The Declaration defines Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an organized set of information technologies capable of generating new content or information that did not previously exist. This includes, but is not limited to, texts, images, data, models, and illustrations.

The Editorial Board recognizes that the use of AI poses challenges to the academic community in terms of maintaining professional ethics, academic integrity, and protecting intellectual property.

In line with these principles, the Editorial Board declares that the use of AI in writing the text of scientific articles is unacceptable. Manuscripts whose text has been generated using AI tools are considered plagiarism and will not be accepted for review or publication.

The use of AI tools in preparing a scientific article is allowed only for mechanical or routine tasks, such as organizing references, compiling bibliographic lists or tables, automatic data coding, and similar operations.
If such AI tools are used in the manuscript, this must be explicitly acknowledged in the text with appropriate references to the tools or software applied.

Any other use of AI tools in the preparation of a manuscript submitted to the journal is deemed unacceptable.

The procedures for detecting and establishing violations of academic integrity, as well as the procedures for reviewing such violations, submitting appeals, and their consideration in cases of improper use of AI tools, are carried out in accordance with the Procedure for Retraction of Published Articles.
